Would you like to be part of the International Master in Early Childhood Education and Care’s (IMEC) team of teachers and researchers? IMEC is a two-year international Master Programme (120 ECTS) in Early Childhood Education and Care. IMEC is offered in cooperation between Oslo University College (Norway), University of Malta (Malta), and Dublin Institute of Technology (Ireland).

One of the objectives of Erasmus Mundus programmes is to encourage and enable highly qualified scholars from all over the world to obtain qualifications and /or experience in the European Union.

Third-country scholars (i.e. scholars from countries other than the EU member states, the EEA-EFTA states or the candidate countries for accession to the EU) can apply for an Erasmus Mundus scholarship to conduct research and teaching within the IMEC consortium for a limited period of time.

Fall semester 2010 will be held at Oslo University College in Norway, spring semester 2011 at Dublin Institute of Technology in Ireland and fall semester 2011 at University of Malta, Malta.

Application criteria:

The position as a visiting scholar is open to those who hold a PhD in related fields of Early Childhood Education and Care. Excellent work experience can in certain instances replace a PhD.

In order to be eligible for an Erasmus Mundus scholarship, visiting scholars cannot have lived in, or conducted their main activity in an EU/EEA-EFTA member state for more than 12 months over the past five years.

Scholars holding an Erasmus Mundus scholarship must commit themselves to actively participate in the master course activities and bring concrete added value to the delivery of the master programme. All visiting scholars are thus expected to perform teaching/research/student tutoring activities. Please look at the left menu under the heading "Stucture" for a closer presentation of the different modules offered in IMEC.

All visiting scholars must be able to teach in English.

The Scholarships:

The scholarship covers a stay of minimum two weeks and maximum three months. The scholarships covers travel and living expenses, and amounts to €1200 per week.

The amount of the grant may vary according to the actual duration of the stay at the host institution.

The scholarships are awarded to the best scholars on a competitive basis. Each selected scholar should come from a different higher education institution. It should be noted that third-country scholars have to provide their own insurance cover.

Application procedure:

The scholars can apply to the IMEC consortium on their own initiative or can be invited to the IMEC consortium to do so.

Only third-country scholars who have outstanding academic and / or professional experience are eligible for a scholarship position within the Erasmus Mundus framework.
